Part 1  Quick writing: observe a picture provided by Meghan

1. There are two animals whose names start with the letter “D” (do and duck).
2. The duck is sitting on the dog and the dog is staring at him.
3. The duck is the only color in the card front.
4. The dog looks sad.
5. Why is the duck yellow? Real ducks aren’t that color.
6. The duck is covered in glitter, but his beak is not.
7. The duck’s eye looks like a black blueberry.
8. Where are the duck’s legs? Did somebody remove them? It looks like the duck will just roll off the dog’s head at any moment.

Part 2  Expository Writing: What would you do to change the school’s cafeteria

  I would change the food, so from Monday to Friday, kids will say “Yay! Pancakes and s’mores and marshmallows and chocolate fountains!”  I would switch the recess route so that from marvelous Monday to Fabulous Friday kids will say “Yay! We can bust right out the door!” I would change the seats into gourmet, soft, comfortable couches, and turn the café in to a palace.
